Blogging from the airport

Using the wireless internet at Minneapolis airport - on my way to Orange County, where as if on cue, its raining cats and dogs. Somehow, whenever I am there, it gets cloudier or rainier than usual (ans it's almost never cloudy or raining out there).

I will be busy with the Biophysical Society meeting at Long Beach over the next five days and then its a whirlwind trip to India - which should all be very fun. So probably no blogging for the next two week. Not that I am an avid blogger even on my normal schedule. Additionally, there are hardly any 'original' opinions on this blog. I have been pretty much culling materials from other blogs and web-sites and posting them with minimal comments. Need to change all that - as Arup once mentioned - 'need a cause to rebel against ...'. Unfortunately, we are a priviledged generation - the lowest point in our collective life was perhaps when Javed Miandad hit that last ball six !! Anyway, more later.....

The most beautiful woman in the world on Letterman

After the 60-minutes segment, our Julia-Roberts-ceritified-most-beautiful-woman (Rahul however begs to differ), Aishwarya Rai, is set to appear on David Letterman on 9th Feb (David Hyde Pierce will be the other guest on that day).

Personally, irrespective of the exposure Ash is getting and the two thumbs up from Ebert & Roper*, I am not so sure that Bride and Prejudice will do as well as Bend it Like Beckam, especially seeing how Bombay Dreams had to fold up after a year and Mira Nair's Indianized treatment of Vanity Fair did not do too well.

Gandhi on a webcam

(From the CFS blog)

A Telecom Italia's TV spot (directed by Spike Lee no less) shows a 'what-if' scenario where Gandhi is delivering his message to the whole world (from Times square to Red Square) via web-cam.
(To see a Quicktime version of the ad - check the story link. A Macromedia Flash version is here).

Btw, CSF is also hosting the latest Bharateeya Blogmela.

Pre-emptive searches from Google

Yet another tool (in its beta form of course) from the Google stable - Google Suggest. Similar to a Google search - but a drop-down menu of suggested terms appear as you start typing. Found this via Gizmodo.
